Is Your Property Insurance Ready for Hurricane Season?

Hurricane preparation often starts with the property: checking shutters, clearing drains, securing outdoor furniture and making sure important documents are accessible.

Your insurance details should be part of that preparation too.

Our complimentary Hurricane Coverage Check helps BVI homeowners, landlords and villa owners review the key information connected to their property insurance. It’s available to existing Premier clients and property owners insured elsewhere.

The check takes around 10 to 15 minutes and can be completed by phone, WhatsApp or at our office.

Here’s what you can expect.

We’ll review how your property is used

The way you use a property may change over time. A home that was once your main residence may now be rented. A villa may also remain vacant for longer periods while you’re overseas.

During the check, we’ll ask about your property type and current occupancy. This helps us understand how the property is being used today and identify information that may require an update.

If someone manages the property while you’re away, it may also be helpful to have their current contact details nearby.

We’ll ask what’s changed

Properties rarely remain exactly the same from one year to the next.

You may have renovated a room, added a guest suite, upgraded your windows or purchased new furniture. Your home may also include new appliances, equipment or a backup power system.

We’ll ask about renovations and significant purchases so we can identify any details that may need attention, including:

  • Renovations or extensions
  • Upgraded windows, doors or roofing
  • Changes to outdoor living areas
  • New furniture or valuable contents
  • New appliances, equipment or backup power systems

Our article, Your BVI Estate May Cost More to Rebuild Than Your Insurance Policy Covers, explores replacement value in more detail. During the Hurricane Coverage Check, building value forms one part of a broader review.

We’ll review your building and contents values

Your property includes more than the structure itself. Furniture, appliances, artwork and other belongings may represent a considerable investment.

A current home inventory can make it easier to keep track of these items. If you already have one, check that it includes recent purchases and updated photographs.

If you haven’t created an inventory yet, a simple video walkthrough is a practical place to begin. Record each room and capture identifying information for significant items where possible. Keep a copy somewhere you can access away from the property.

You don’t need to organise every document before contacting us. Start with the information you have, and we’ll explain whether anything else may be needed.

We’ll confirm your renewal timing and next step

It’s easy to lose track of renewal dates, particularly when you own more than one property or spend part of the year outside the BVI.

During the check, we’ll ask about your renewal timing and preferred method of follow-up. If we identify information that may need updating, we’ll explain the appropriate next step.

Already insured elsewhere?

You can arrange a complimentary
Hurricane Coverage Check even if your current policy is with another insurance provider.

We’ll review your property type and occupancy, building and contents values, recent renovations or purchases, and renewal timing. If you’d like to consider your options, we can also explain the next steps for requesting a quote from Premier.

It’s a straightforward way to get clear guidance from our BVI-based team, with no pressure to make an immediate decision.

You can complete the check while overseas

You don’t need to be in the BVI to complete your Hurricane Coverage Check. It can be done by phone or WhatsApp, wherever you’re based.

It may help to have the following information nearby:

  • Your current policy schedule
  • Details of recent renovations
  • Updated photographs or a home inventory
  • Records of significant purchases
  • Your policy renewal date
  • Any questions you’d like to discuss

You can still begin the conversation if you don’t have everything ready. We’ll let you know what information may be helpful following the initial check.

Set aside 10 minutes for a clearer picture

Whether you’re an existing Premier client or currently insured elsewhere, a short review can help determine whether your insurance information reflects your property, its contents and how it’s being used today.

Our complimentary Hurricane Coverage Check takes around 10 to 15 minutes and can be completed by phone, WhatsApp or at our office.

Please note: A review identifies information that may need updating. It’s not a promise of coverage.
