Claims

NECESSARY STEPS TAKEN IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL COLLISION:

  • Contact the Police (Royal Virgin Islands Police Force) – whether it is a single vehicle accident or multiple vehicles and a statement given
  • Contact your Agent or Premier Insurance Limited (PIL) as applicable
  • If another vehicle(s) was involved, get information from the vehicle driver/owner, their name and contact number, make, model and license plate number, insurance details
  • If anyone was injured, call 911 for ambulance and try to obtain a name of the injured person and the nature and extent of the injury
  • Take pictures of the scene and damage to the vehicle(s), note time and location
  • Take name(s) and information of witnesses
  • You should never admit liability on the site of the accident. This is usually indicated by the Police
  • In the case of Hit and Run, be sure to contact the Police so a record is made and a statement given
  • In the case of a stolen or burnt vehicle, be sure to contact the Police/or Fire Department

FILING A CLAIM: (AS THE THIRD PARTY CLAIMANT)

  • Complete Claim form (signed by the Owner and Driver)
  • Detailed Driver’s statement (copy of statement given to the Police is also acceptable)
  • Copy of current BVI Driver’s Licence or Foreign Driver’s License
  • Proof of ownership (vehicle transfer form or last insurance certificate)
  • Police Report (whenever liability is in dispute, hit and run or when the accident involves injuries, a Police Report is mandatory)
  • Two (2) repair estimates
  • Inspection of vehicle will be required (must be done by Premier Insurance Ltd’s Claim representative before any commencement of repairs)

FILING A MOTOR CLAIM

FILING A CLAIM: (AS THE INSURED)

  • Notify your Agent or Premier Insurance Limited (PIL) as soon as possible and within 24-48 hours of the accident
  • Bear in mind, your Deductible will be applicable (for Comprehensive insurance policies only)
  • Complete Claim form, (signed by the Insured and Driver)
  • Detailed Driver’s statement (copy of statement given to the Police is also acceptable)
  • Copy of current BVI Driver’s Licence
  • Copy of Foreign Drivers Licence (if applicable) – note that drivers holding an overseas Driver’s license are only allowed to drive within the BVI for up to 1 month after their date of entry. If working in the BVI, the driver must obtain a BVI Driver’s License
  • Copy of Rental Contract/Agreement (applicable for Rental vehicles)
  • Police Report (whenever liability is in dispute, in the event of a one vehicle accident, hit and run, stolen or burnt vehicle or when the accident involves injuries, a Police Report is mandatory)
  • Two (2) repair estimates (applicable to comprehensive insurance policies where the Insured can claim for damages to vehicle under their policy)
  • Inspection of vehicle will be required (must be done by PIL’s Claim representative before commencement of repairs)
